Item No: 05J
Meeting Date: February 10, 2025
MUL-NDIS,
VVtE_W
Type of Business: Consent Agenda
Administrator Review:
city of mounds View Staff Report
To: Honorable Mayor and City Council
From: Rayla Sue Ewald, Human Resource Director
Item Title/Subject: Resolution 10055, Approving the Hire of Jeremiah Anderson to
the Housing/Code Enforcement Inspector Position
Background:
On January 2, 2025, the Firefighter/Fire Marshal/Code Inspector resigned and the job description
was redesigned as a Housing/Code Enforcement Inspector position and posted.
Discussion:
Staff received two applications from prior employees, both having held the Code Enforcement
position previously. One stepped out of the process, leaving one ideal candidate to interview for
the position. The panel found Jeremiah Anderson to be the perfect match for the position as he
was in the job previously from 1999 through 2012.
Since leaving the City, Mr. Anderson has owned/operated his own inspections business for 12
years. Additionally, during that time period he worked as a Building Inspector for a neighboring
municipality for over six years.
Staff recommends starting Mr. Anderson at the top pay scale of Grade 6, Step 9. Additionally,
with his years of municipal service, staff recommends vacation begin at 25 days per year. He
would complete a six-month probationary period, and upon successful completion.
Grade 6
4% 3.75% 3.75% 3.75% 3.5% 3.25% 3% 2.75%
Step 1 Step 2 Step 3 Step 4 Step 5 Step 6 Step 7 Step 8 Step 9
$32.89 $34.21 $35.49 $36.82 $38.20 $39.54 $40.83 $42.05 $43.21
Strategic Plan Strategy/Goal:
Create a culture where employees desire to work.
Financial Impact:
This is a budgeted position.
Recommendation:
Staff recommends the City Council adopt Resolution 10055, Approving the Hire of Jeremiah
Anderson to the Housing/Code Enforcement Inspector Position.
Respectfully submitted,
Rayla Sue Ewald
Human Resource Director
Attached: Resolution 10055
