Assist Other Agency- New Brighton <br /> On 1/24/2024 at 0146 hours, New Brighton Officers initiated a traffic stop near the <br /> intersection of Silver Lake Road NW and 51h Street NW in New Brighton. After a brief <br /> pursuit, the suspect vehicle was disabled in the back yard of a residence, and the <br /> occupants fled on foot. Sergeant Schultes and K9 Grizz responded to assist with a K9 <br /> track. During the track, heat sources were located by a drone operator. As the K9 <br /> team moved toward the suspect, he fled away from officers and was apprehended by <br /> perimeter officers. A female was later located after she approached a homeowner <br /> because she was cold. The driver was later booked on several charges. <br /> Assist Other Agency- New Brighton <br /> On 3/23/2024 at about 0400 hours, a New Brighton Officer initiated a traffic stop. The <br /> driver fled and a vehicle pursuit was initiated. Due to the dangerous driving conduct of <br /> the suspect, the pursuit was terminated. Shortly after, the vehicle was found crashed <br /> and unoccupied near the intersection of Long Lake Road and 14th Street NW. <br /> Sergeant Schultes and K9 Grizz responded to assist with a track. A track was started, <br /> and K9 Grizz tracked away from the vehicle. He continued tracking over back yard <br /> fences for about a block, then the track continued across 15th Street NW into another <br /> back yard. K9 Grizz tracked to a garbage can in the back yard of a residence. It <br /> appeared the suspect had concealed himself inside, so officers created distance for <br /> safety. After attempting to negotiate the suspect out of the garbage can for several <br /> minutes with no response, an officer tipped over the can and the suspect partially fell <br /> out. K9 Grizz barked as a deterrent as I gave the suspect commands. He surrendered <br /> and was taken into custody without further incident. He was booked for fleeing in a <br /> motor vehicle. <br /> 04/02/2024 - K9 Demo at St. Johns in New Brighton <br /> Officer Aase and K9 Ace performed a K9 demo at St Johns Church in New Brighton. <br /> Officer Aase performed a K9 demo for approximately 60 children between the ages of <br /> 3-6 years old. After the demo was complete, each kid was able to come and pet K9 Ace <br /> and interact with him. Officer Aase spoke about the Mounds View Police Department <br /> K9 program and what our dogs offer to the community. <br /> 04/22/2024 - Narcotics Certification <br /> Officer Aase and K9 Ace completed their Tac-21 Narcotics Certification through Red <br /> Team K9. Officer Aase and K9 Ace worked tirelessly for over three months working on <br /> completing this certification. K9 Ace is now certified in locating methamphetamine, <br /> cocaine, and heroin. <br /> 04/23/2024 - Meet and Greet <br /> Officer Aase and K9 Ace, and Sgt. Schultes and K9 Grizz did a meet and greet at 720 <br /> Mahtomedi Avenue in Mahtomedi. The K9 teams visited a long-time donor of the <br /> Mounds View Police Department K9 program. The K9's mingled with staff and others in <br /> the facility. They were able to help bring joy to this donor's new home. <br />
