5/02/2024 - Meet and Greet Sgt. Schultes and K9 Grizz participated in a meet and greet with attendees at the SBM Senior Citizen Fair. They also performed a demonstration in obedience and apprehension for a group of about 125. At the end of the demonstration, Sgt. Schultes answered questions from the group about the MVPD K9 Unit. 05/30/2024 - Assist Other Agency-New Brighton Officer Aase was requested by New Brighton Department of Public Safety for a K9 sniff on a traffic stop near the intersection of Interstate 35W and County Road C in Roseville. Officer Aase gathered information upon arrival. Officer Aase deployed K9 Ace for a vehicle sniff. K9 Ace worked the entire vehicle, showing a change in behavior near the rear driver door by the gas tank. K9 Ace also showed a change in behavior near the driver side door. K9 Ace gave two positive alerts for the presence of narcotics. The vehicle was searched and narcotic paraphernalia was located. 06/07/2024 - Assist Other Agency-Roseville Officer Aase and K9 Ace were requested for a large group of approximately 200 plus people at 2527 Victoria St N. It was believed someone within the group had fired approximately five shots and they were requesting mutual aid. Officer Aase and K9 Ace responded to the location. Officer Aase used K9 Ace as a deterrent and had him bark at the large crowd from the squad car. After approximately one hour, the crowd was dispersed. 06/26/2024 - Meet and Greet/New Brighton Long Lake Regional Park Rock wall event for North Church. K9 Ace and Officer Aase made an appearance at a rock wall event for children. K9 Ace interacted with adults and children. Officer Aase handed out stickers and baseball cards and talked about the K9 program. Assist Other Agency-Roseville On 7/2/24 at 0456 hours, Officer Aase and K9 Ace were requested by Roseville PD for a K9 Deployment at 2745 Herschel St N. Roseville Officers were currently out on a fresh assault involving a knife. It was learned the suspect was barricaded in the apartment and refusing to exit. The suspect was known to Roseville Officers and was known to fight/flee from police. Officer Aase and K9 Ace arrived on scene and met up with other officers staged outside of the apartment. Negotiations were in the works at this time. Officer Aase gave multiple K9 warnings to get the suspect to exit peacefully and surrender. After approximately 30 minutes, the suspect surrendered to officers and he was taken into custody. Night to Unite Officer Aase and K9 Ace, and Sgt. Schultes and K9 Grizz volunteered to attend night to unite. The K9 unit attended numerous block parties. Officers talked with the community about our K9 program. At all block parties, the K9's were interacting with adults and children, allowing them to pet and play with them. The K9's also performed short demonstrations at parties showing off the assets they brings to the department.
