The NRO worked directly with the Mounds View Police Foundation as well as other Officers and staff from the department to plan and host 28 community outreach events throughout the year. Some events included: • The Mounds View Police Foundation in partnership with the MVPD successfully hosted their 7th annual Father Daughter Dance in February. • In February, Officers participated in the Polar Plunge again raising $2,376 for the Special Olympics. • The NRO worked with the MN Department of Commerce and Mounds View Public Works to hold a CATGUARD event to mark catalytic converts and deter their thefts. • MVPD Officers and staff participated in the Torch Run for the Minnesota Special Olympics. • On August 6th, the NRO coordinated with block party captains for the MVPD, SBM Fire and the Irondale marching band to attend 32 Block Parties, and 3 luncheons at senior complexes to celebrate Night to Unite. • The NRO and SRO were invited to attend a Halloween block party in the area of Adams Street and Bronson Drive • The Mounds View Police Department participated in the Salvation Army Coat Drive again this year. As one of several participating agencies, the MVPD collected over 800 coats in total, maintaining our reigning championship (and an autographed Justin Morneau bat). • The Mounds View PD, Police Foundation, and SBM Fire Department participated in Heroes and Helpers this year. The NRO worked with property managers, officers, and Ralph Reeder Food Shelf to identify families in need during the holiday season. Donations made by the Lions Club, Abiding Savior, and the Police Foundation made it possible to take 11 children shopping for holiday gifts as well as sponsor two additional young family members of some participants. • The NRO continued the Pink Patch Project which raised $760 for Crystal Police Department's Officer Daniela Romo. Officer Romo recently completed all of her Breast Cancer treatment and is looking forward to returning to work.
