Mounds View City Council March 10, 2003
Regular Meeting Page 18
indicated Staff has looked into the copier needs of the City and recommends purchasing the
machine in the garage for $745.00 as it is not used very heavily and would only cost the City
minimal maintenance. He further recommended that the City lease three machines to replace the
three in City Hall noting that the new copiers can be hooked up to the computer system to be
used as printers to take some of the load of the LaserJet printers.
Finance Director Hansen indicated that changing the City's copiers based on Staff's
recommendation would save the City approximately $9,000 per year as well as save wear and
tear on the City's printers.
Mayor Linke asked whether the finance copier could be eliminated and have that department
utilize the administration copier.
Finance Director Hansen explained that there are many times when the administrative
departments machine is busy and he feels it would be a waste of staff time to have them standing
in line at the copier. He also clarified that the increased projection in use for the copiers assumes
moving some printing away from the LaserJet printers to save wear and tear.
MOTION/SECOND: Gunn/Marty.
