Mounds View City Council Apri114, 2003 <br />Regular Meeting Page 10 <br />Council Member Marty asked for clarification on the Springsted item for continuing disclosure <br />for $635.00. <br />Finance Director Hansen indicated that the City Council approved retaining Springsted to ensure <br />that the financial information for the City is correct and available as part of the disclosure <br />requirement for any City issuing bonds. <br />Council Member Marty asked whether the paid off items should be removed from the Chart. <br />Finance Director Hansen indicated he would review the Chart to determine what could be <br />removed. <br />MOTION/SECOND: Marty/Gunn. To Approve Just and Correct Claims as Presented. <br />Ayes - 5 Nays - 0 Motion carried. <br />B. Authorization for Expenditures <br />(1) Consideration of NLC Membership Expenditure <br />Interim City Administrator Ericson indicated that Staff brings consideration of the National <br />League of Cities Membership to Council for consideration and determination as to whether it is a <br />necessary expenditure in light of budget constraints. <br />Mayor Linke asked what the benefits of the membership are. <br />Interim City Administrator Ericson indicated the City receives the benefit of information from <br />the NLC as well as a weekly magazine and there is a national convention the City can send a <br />representative to that has many training opportunities. He then said that this national <br />membership may not be necessary provided the City maintains its membership with the <br />Minnesota League of Cities. <br />Council Member Gunn asked if the membership is being used. <br />Interim City Administrator Ericson indicated that use would be difficult to determine. He then <br />indicated that the City has sent representatives to the conferences and they return with valuable <br />information but, in light of budget constraints, it is doubtful that anyone would be sent to the <br />national conference. <br />MOTION/SECOND: Marty/Stigney. To Inform the National League of Cities of Mounds <br />View's Intention to Terminate Membership. <br />Ayes - 5 Nays - 0 Motion carried. <br />
