Mounds View City Council. July 25, 2005
Regular Meeting Page 3
• Mayor Marty stated that he did visit the site noting that currently it is pretty muddy.
Mr. Perrozzi stated that they alleviated the water problem by installing the catch basin and the
cost of the catch basin was a lot. He indicated that they could have done a better job noting that
they had worked out a better plan, which had been shared with Director Ericson. He stated that it
was his understanding that this was the plan that would be used, until the last minute adding that
within five days Velmeir had torn up the parking lot and installed the catch basin. He stated that
all along, back when he had presented his case, everyone thought the parking lot was fine noting
that he has yet to meet with the City Engineers. He stated that he would like to have an engineer
inspect the site to help him determine if the parking lot is right. He stated that the way the water
is flowing is not correct and there is a problem. He asked if he could contact Staff for their
assistance.
Council Member Flaherty. agreed with Mr. Perrozzi stating that the Council has identified that
this is a piece of property that the City does want something done with it. He recalled the
conversations with Velmeir and agreed that promises were made. He stated that it is time to
investigate and see what is going on. He suggested contacting Velmeir and having a City
Engineer visit the site.
Mayor Marty stated that they wanted this done last fall and asked Director Ericson to research
• this issue and provide a summary at the next Council work session.
Cindy Palm, 2266 Terrace Drive, stated that on behalf of the Greenfield Park Neighborhood she
would like to invite the Mayor and City Council, along with the Community, to their Park
Dedication Ceremony. She
stated that she recently visited the park noting that she heard several positive comments about the
equipment. She stated that it is a great park and the neighborhood would like to celebrate their
new park with the community.
Mayor Marty stated that Ms. Palm also had a lot to do with the park and thanked her for her time.
David Jahnke, 8428 Eastwood Road, stated that he reviewed the tape of the last meeting and
noted that most of the people who spoke before him .spoke a lot longer than he did and more
often, yet when it came to his turn he was asked to sit down before he got an answer to his
question. He stated that he does not understand why Council allowed that to happen adding that
he would like an answer to his question. He asked the Council if they think the billboards should
pay for the golf course.
Mayor Marty agreed that the billboards should pay for the golf course rather than tax the citizens.
• Mr. Jahnke stated that based on the survey 80-percent of the golfers are from outside of the City
and 20-percent are from Mounds View and clarified that the billboard money belongs to the City.
