Mounds View City Council September 12, 2005 <br />Regular Meeting Page 8 <br />• bid request. <br />City Administrator Ulrich pointed out that Mounds View's portion of the debt service is included <br />in the 2006 budget as presented. <br />Mayor Marty noted the cost is under what was approved. Deputy Fire Chief Krueger stated that <br />is correct. Mayor Marty thanked the Fire Department for coming in under bid. He asked about <br />the equipment contained in Appendix D and whether equipment is salvaged from current trucks. <br />Deputy Fire Chief Krueger stated they are hopeful that one of the engines to be replaced will be <br />retained as a reserve engine in case an engine is out of service for repairs. He stated they would <br />take the best of the equipment for reuse but some is aged. Existing loose equipment and could be <br />sold, used as spares, or reallocated to other stations. <br />Mayor Marty noted one of the engines being replaced is almost 20 years old so he understands <br />that the loose equipment on that engine would also be used. <br />Mayor Many asked about General Safety Equipment being located in Wyoming, Minnesota. <br />Deputy Fire Chief Krueger stated that is correct and the Council, if they desire, can stop in to see <br />the trucks being built. <br />. To waive the reading and adopt Resolution 6614 Accept <br />Bid for Purchase of Two Fire Engine Apparatus and Accompanying Appendixes. <br />Ayes-5 Nays-0 Motion carried. <br />Deputy Fire Chief Krueger presented a colored rendition depicting the front and entry views of <br />the new fire station, as proposed, incorporating the suggestions of the member City Councils. <br />H. Consideration of Fire Personnel Deployment to Louisiana <br />Community Development Director Ericson referenced the report from Fire Chief Zikmund <br />advising that the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, Homeland Security Division, has <br />received a request from their counterpart in Louisiana for three strike force teams. In turn, the <br />SBM Fire Department was asked to provide a strike force team. This is a readiness request, <br />versus a deployment request. He explained that this is being brought to the Council's attention <br />because a Mounds View .employee, Jeremiah Anderson, would potentially be a part of the <br />deployment.. Mounds View would continue to pay the employee during the two-week <br />deployment, however, at a future date the City would be reimbursed by FEMA for all personnel <br />costs. Director Ericson stated he supports providing help for the Louisiana victims of Hurricane <br />Katrina. <br />Fire Chief Zikmund provided a brief update on this request. He advised that the request was <br />• received the Saturday of Labor Day weekend. He explained that a Strike Force is comprised of a <br />Chief Officer, three engine companies with four individuals each, one ladder company with four <br />
