PUBLIC INPUT
Mayor Flaherty commented on the passing of David Jahnke on August 18, 2009, at age 71. He
noted that Mr. Jahnke was selected as Mounds View's 2004 Citizen of the Year and stated he
will be greatly missed.
Council Member Stigney stated David Jahnke has been his neighbor since 1972 and was
instrumental in acting as a "watch dog" for the City, taking over from Bill Fritz, and had attended
many Council Meetings. He added that Mr. Jahnke was an honorable person, a great resident,
and will be missed by all who knew him.
Mike Read, 2208 Lois Drive, requested clarification on the Council's consideration about
changing the size of garages, noting his garage had been referenced several times during recent
planning commission meetings. He suggested that his neighbors are complaining about him, not
the garage he constructed. Mayor Flaherty assured the public that Mr. Reed followed all the rules
when constructing his garage, it is within City Code, and was afforded no special conditions. He
explained the amendment is to add clarification to the building height.
