Mounds View City Council March 24, 2008 <br />Regular Meeting Page 4 <br />• Council Member Mueller asked how the non-linear editing system would be funded. Vanessa <br />VanAlstine indicated that the funding for this purchase would come from the PEG fees charged <br />to cable subscribers. <br />Council Member Mueller asked whether the system being recommended is still compatible with <br />the existing system. Vanessa VanAlstine indicated that the recommended system is compatible. <br />Vanessa VanAlstine indicated that this computer system should have a less than one year return <br />on investment and should last five years. <br />Council Member Stigney asked if the software is specifically for the Apple monitor. Vanessa <br />VanAlstine explained that it would be the drivers and operating system for the Apple monitor. <br />Mayor Marty and Council Member Stigney inquired as to the cost of the Apple Care program and <br />the difference in the warranty. Ms. VanAlstine indicated that Apple Care is $219.00 and that <br />applies to the MacPro Computer and, if an Apple Monitor is purchased, it would apply to the <br />monitor and that would increase the monitor warranty to three years. <br />MOTION/SECOND: Mueller/Stigney. To Waive the Reading and Approve Resolution 7247, <br />Authorizing the Purchase of aNon-Linear Editing System for the Cable Room. <br />Ayes - 5 Nays - 0 Motion carried. <br />• C. Resolution 7244 Approving Cleaning Contract for the City Hall/Police and <br />Mounds View Community Center <br />Public Works Director Lee indicated that the cleaning contractors at City Hall and the <br />Community Center have not been performing in line with the contract requirements. He then <br />said that Resolution 7244 would award a contract to Clean Tech to clean both buildings. <br />Mayor Marty indicated he discussed this with Staff today and his question was that the building <br />looks clean enough so he was not sure what the issue was. But, there have been ongoing issues <br />with the existing contractors and that is why Staff decided to go out for bids and shop around. <br />Mayor Marty said that he would prefer a contractor rather than an employee to avoid having to <br />pay benefits, etc. <br />MOTION/SECOND: Marty/Mueller. To Waive the Reading and Approve Resolution 7244, <br />Approving Cleaning Contract for the City Hall/Police and Mounds View Community Center. <br />Council Member Mueller asked whether background checks are done on employees of this <br />contractor to ensure that there would not be an issue. Public Works Director Lee indicated that <br />fingerprinted and documented background checks are required to work in the police department. <br />• Council Member Mueller asked how Staff would handle issues with service.
