Mounds View City Council Apri114, 2008 <br />Regular Meeting Page 15 <br />company in the state, and he cannot believe that they would deal with a bigger City like <br />Minneapolis and St. Paul in this manner. <br />Mayor Marty reviewed the correspondence from Xcel Energy and pointed out that Xcel has <br />moved forward without a permit or permission of the City with installation of a valve. <br />Mayor Marty indicated he would like Clerk-Administrator Ericson and the City Attorney to <br />contact the League of Minnesota Cities to help deal with this Xcel situation. <br />Staff agreed. <br />Council member Mueller indicated that this project supports gas for communities to the north of <br />Mounds View and that is why the Council has insisted upon the safety valve, to ensure the safety <br />of the residents of Mounds View. It is reasonable for the residents of Mounds View to be <br />expected to pay for safety equipment or a gas line that does not supply our residents. She then <br />said that she does not appreciate being bullied or threatened by Excel Energy. <br />2. Review Retreat Summary Document <br />Clerk-Administrator Ericson indicated that this report is informational for Council. Staff has <br />reviewed the document and will make any necessary changes. <br />Mayor Maryy, Page 8, Item 6, follow up retreat should be scheduled in one year but, he thought a <br />mini-retreat was going to be set up in six months. Staff will look into setting up a six month <br />review in house with Staff. <br />3. Recap of and Feedback from Redevelopment Roundtable Meeting <br />Clerk-Administrator Ericson reviewed the feedback recap provided by Staff on the <br />Redevelopment Roundtable meeting. <br />Council Member Flaherty indicated that he would like to let this unique opportunity be known to <br />all developers as he would not like to commit to one developer at this point. <br />Clerk-Administrator Ericson indicated that Staff would prefer that the existing RFP agreement <br />expire and then allow Staff to work with any developer. <br />Mayor Marty would like to look into marketing the City and the properties that the City does <br />have. <br />4. Reminder-Employee Appreciation Luncheon, May 21, 2008 <br />Clerk-Administrator Ericson reminded Council of the Employee Appreciation Luncheon on May <br />21, 2008 at the Community Center. <br />
