Mounds View City Council August 11, 2008 <br />Regular Meeting Page 5 <br />• Council Member Stigney asked if there would be a more updated version available next year. <br />Finance Director Beer indicated that the meters, once purchased, have a life expectancy of 20 <br />years. <br />MOTION/SECOND: Mueller/Hull. To Waive the Reading and Approve Resolution 7313, <br />Authorizing the Purchase and Installation of 1300 Neptune R900 Radio Read Devices and <br />Amend the Labor Costs to Match the 1300 Devices. <br />Council Member Stigney indicated that the Resolution reads that these will be installed during <br />overtime, but he would prefer that they be installed, as much as possible, during regular hours to <br />avoid as much overtime as possible. <br />Council Member Flaherty asked whether there is enough overtime in the budget to allow for this <br />project. Finance Director Beer explained that it is about a 15 minute job to install one meter and <br />the staff plans to install them as time allows. <br />Ayes - 5 Nays - 0 Motion carried. <br />H. Resolution 7318, Authorization to Purchase Two Projectors <br />• Cable Coordinator VanAlstine explained that this requested purchase comes from the event <br />center to better accommodate users of the event center, who have expressed repeated desires to <br />be able to rent projectors. Users of the event center have the option to use the projectors as <br />rental items. She then explained the Staff recommendation for purchasing these items. <br />Council Member Mueller supported the Staff recommendation and said that Ms. VanAlstine has <br />shown that fixnds can be saved for unnecessary expenditures, and there is money in the budget for <br />this equipment. She then said that she would like to purchase one new projector for the <br />community center, removal of the projector at City Hall to be used at the Community Center and <br />install a new projector in City Hall. <br />Mayor Marty commented that it would be nice to have Council Meetings and Work sessions with <br />all of the lights on. He then said that he agrees with the Staff recommendation. <br />MOTION/SECOND: Marty/Mueller. To Waive the Reading and Approve Resolution 7318, <br />Authorization to Purchase Two Projectors. <br />Council Member Stigney moved to amend the motion to the floor. <br />MOTION/SECOND: Stigney/Flaherty. To Purchase One or Two of the Projectors for the <br />Community Center and A11ow Staff to Decide Whether to Purchase One or Two. <br />Ayes - 3 Nays - 2(Mueller/Marry) Amendment carried. <br />
