-3-
for a total of $45,112.50 during 1983. The funds as
identified in Mr. Johnson's memo are available to finance
this increase in hours.
I RECOMMENDATION: Staff sees three options available to the Council
in this matter. They are:
A. Have Mr. Johnson complete all projects within the remaining
time provided for in his contract and direct other staff to
assume those duties necessary to free him up to complete
the projects. This will require a shifting in the duties
of certain employees, particularly myself, as I would need to
take a more active role in supervising the Community Development
and Public Works Departments.
B. Amend Mr. Johnson's contract for an additional 755 hours to
be funded by the identified sources.
C. Prioritize those projects identified in items 3 and 4 above
and either add additional hours to the contract to work on
those with the highest priority or have the highest priority
projects completed within the hours remaining in the current
contractor seek an acceptable compromise within these two
options.
Staff has no formal recommendation other than to say that all of the
projects have been previously determined as necessary, the questions
Cbefore the Council are how quickly do we accomplish them and how
much are we willing to pay during any one year for engineering
services needed to accomplish those projects.
DFP/pf
