f STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />WATER RESOURCES BOARD <br />rota lie •tee° 555 Wabasha Street <br />Room 206 <br />St, Paul, Minnesota <br />55102 <br />April 12, 1933 <br />PLEASE BRING THIS LETTER TO THE ATTENTION OF <br />THE GOVERNING BODY OF YOUR, CITY, TOWN, OR COUNTY <br />TO: Local Governmental Units Having Territory <br />Within the Rice Creek <br />Watershed District <br />Re: Restructuring of <br />Metropolitan Watershed <br />District Boards of Managers <br />Dear Mayor or Board Chairman: <br />Chapter 509, Laws of 1982, the Metropolitan Surface Water Management Act (Act) , <br />amended the Watershed Act - Minnesota Statutes Chapter 112 - by changing both the <br />procedure for selecting metropolitan watershed district managers and the maximum <br />size of metropolitan watershed district boards of managers. <br />Section 14 of the Act added a new Subdivision 7 to Minnesota Statutes Section <br />112.37. This new subdivision allows up to nine managers on a metropolitan watershed <br />district. it also states that the initial managers of new metropolitan watershed districts <br />shall be selected from a list of nominees submitted by cities and towns having territory <br />in the district, if at least three nominees are submitted for each position to be filled. <br />Section 15 of the Act amended Minnesota Statutes Section 112.42, Subdivision 3, <br />by directing county commissioners having authority to appoint metropolitan watershed <br />district managers to select them from a list of persons nominated by cities and towns <br />having territory in the district, if the list contains at least three nominees for each <br />manager position and is submitted at least 60 days prior to the expiration of the term(s) <br />of office. <br />
