TO: CIork-Administrator
FROM: Sgt. Smith r'
DATE: April 15, 1983
RE: Traffic controls change Silver Lake Road/Red Oak and Highway 10
'rile City Council reguesled Police recommendations on necessity of a left
Lurn signal for NurLh/South crossing of Highway 10 on Silver Lake Road/
Red Oak Drive access rouLus.
We have run a traffic survey through the Minnesota State Highway Patrol,
wild handle accidents on Highway 10. Their record analysis indicates
that from April 1982 through March 1983, four accidents occurred at that
location. None of these accidents appeared to be left turn related as
the causative factor.
If we interpret the lack of left turn signals in relation to the other
North/South traffic light crossing at County Road H and County Road H2,
we feel that the intersection in question is safer due to the same or
reduced traffic flow.
At the present time we recommend no change in traffic controls.
