Page 2 <br />MECS FACTSHEET <br />WHO IS THE AUDITOR AND WHAT DOES HE OR SIZE DO IN THE HOME? <br />The auditor is someone who has received special training in home energy <br />conservation and alternative energy use and who has received a state <br />certification to perform the MECS home energy audit. The auditor will <br />either be an employee of or on contract with the utility to perform this <br />service. <br />HOW DOES ONE REQUEST AN AUDIT? <br />Upon receiving an audit offer in the mail from the utility or hearing about <br />it in the community, the customer may call their utility and request a MECS <br />audit. The auditor then calls the customer to arrange a time for the audit. <br />Generally, the audit takes place two weeks but no more than 30 days from the <br />date the customer requests it. The audit takes about two hours to perform, <br />and the customer must be at home during the audit. Evening and Saturday audits <br />can be arranged for greater customer convenience. , <br />�A <br />
