-2- <br />Based on a discussion: of these complaints with City Attorney <br />Meyers, the following action has been. or will be taken by City <br />staff: <br />1. The Police Department has been made aware of these complaints <br />and instructed to step up our patrolling efforts in that area <br />to determine the severity of the problem and enforce the laws <br />of the City to a greater extent. The Police Department, as <br />previously stated, has also set up a meeting with the complaining <br />residents to solicit their support and assistance in this <br />effort. <br />2. The Building Inspections Department has previously completed <br />inspections on all of these buildings and been instructed to <br />perform additional inspections on all of these structures to <br />determine what additional violations of our (lousing Code or <br />other City Codes might exist and enforce these Codes to their <br />fullest extent. <br />3. City Attorney Meyers has recommended that,with the approval <br />of the Council, this office meet with all owners of these <br />buildings in a joint meeting to advise them of the complaints _ <br />that we are receiving from residents in the area and solicit <br />their cooperation in resolving the problems being experienced <br />by residents of the neighborhood. <br />Staff would request Council direction in the matter of setting up <br />a meeting with the apartment building owners and any other direction <br />you might feel is necessary to respond to these complaints. <br />DFP/pf <br />
