7ks and Recreation Commission Meeting <br />.: *dnutes <br />... i14"August 26, 1902 <br />Page four <br />GOLDEN GLOVES BOXING <br />PROGRAM: <br />Staff reviewed the memo regarding the potential of establishing <br />the Golden Gloves Boxing Program in the City of Mounds View. <br />Ile stated that a Mr. John Holmes, a Mounds View resident, was <br />interested in establishing a Mounds View Golden Gloves Boxing <br />Program and requested from the city staff to receive permit <br />priority and program endorsement from the city Parks and Recre- <br />ation Department. After lengthy discussion as to the merits of <br />Golden Glove Boxing and how it would interelate to the other <br />athletic associations within the city, a motion was made by <br />Commissioner Bownan and seconded by Commissoner Silvis to <br />endorse the Golden Gloves Boxing Program in the City of Mounds <br />View and direct staff to provide office and administrative <br />assistance as well as scheduling/permit priorities through the <br />school district. Motion was adopted unanimously. <br />6 ayes <br />0 nayes <br />The Park Commission farther directed staff to review the program <br />within six months to see how the program had evolved and determine <br />if any problems had developed. <br />MID -SEASON FORESTRY <br />REPORT: <br />Director Anderson reviewed the mid -season forestry report and <br />stated that the forestry program had an extremely successful year <br />with over 900 plantings. He further stated that he felt the <br />addition of Odis Newton and Ken Lelm as forestry assistants had <br />greatly enhanced the park system and city public grounds. <br />PROPOSALS FOR DONATI616 <br />FROM JAYCEE WOMEN: <br />Staff reviewed the memo which outlined a number of proposals <br />for possible expenditures of the generous donation of money from <br />the Mounds View Jaycee Women. Following staff reports and a <br />general discussion a motion was made by Chairperson Burmeister <br />seconded by Commssioner Weflin to place a youth tot/baby swing <br />at Hillview Park, to construct a glider swing at Silver View Park <br />which was to be placed on the top of the sliding hill in sleeves <br />and thirdly to construct a sand volleyball court at Groveland <br />Park. The motion passed unanimously. <br />6 ayes <br />0 nayes <br />STAFF REPORT: <br />Staff reviewed the monthly report and discussed the summer C.E.T.A. <br />crew as well as the future developments of the Groveland Park <br />fund raising committee. <br />ADJOURNMENT: <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Bowman, seconded by Commissioner <br />Weflin to adjourn the meeting at 9:25 p.m. The motion passed <br />unanimously. <br />6 ayes <br />�� <br />1 .14 0 nayes <br />
