�® CITY OF FRIDLEY <br />9421 UNIVERSITY AVENUE N.E., FRIDLEY, MINNESOTA $5102 <br />TELEPHONE 1112)571.2150 <br />November 10, 1982 <br />1 Waste Management Board <br />123 Thorson Building <br />7323 - 58th Avenue North <br />Crystal, MN 55426 <br />Attn: Sharon Decker <br />Re: Hazardous Waste Sites <br />Dear Ms. Decker, <br />The staff appreciated meeting with you on Tuesday November 9, 1982 <br />and discussing the procedures and criteria being utilized by the Waste <br />Management Board in Identifying possible hazardous waste processing sites. <br />At that meeting I provided you city sap sheets from our Comprehensive Plan <br />pertaining to the Water Supply System, Parks, Ground Water Recharge, <br />Wetlands and Natural Resources. I hope these will assist you in analyzing <br />the proposed sites in Fridley. <br />The following is being submitted to provide additional information <br />specifically addressing the vacant heavy industrial properties within the <br />Board's designated zones identified in my letter of October 27, 1982. <br />(See attached map) <br />1. This site is within an identified Tax Increment District established <br />because of the extremely poor soil conditions and high water table. This <br />area Is bordered on the north by a Nature Center, proposed high density <br />residential development and commercial property; and on the West and east <br />by single family residential housing. The watershed throughout this area <br />passes through the nature center and Springbrook Creek into the <br />Mississippi River above the City of St. Paul Water Works. The western <br />boundary use is limited by two high voltage electric transmission <br />corridors. <br />2. This site Is bounded on the West by residential housing and on the <br />east by commercial businesses. The western boundry use Is limited by two <br />high voltage electric transmission corridors. The watershed in this area <br />enters Stonybrook Creek and then the Mississippi River directly above the <br />City of St. Paul Water Works. <br />3. This site borders A Single famly housing development on the north, <br />commercial development on the west and a city park and Regional Trail <br />(walk, bike, water) system on the south. It 1e within 350 feet of two of <br />the city's shallow wells and water filtration plant. <br />A. This site is bordered on the north by a single family housing <br />development and on the South by a oity park and Regional Trail (walk, <br />bike, water) system. It is within 750 feet of one city water well and 1250 <br />feet from two city shallow wells and a water filtration plant. <br />
