It is within 1300 feet of Spring Lake <br />(the City of Spring Lake Park and Fridley recreational waterbody). - <br />6. This alto is extremely narrow and is surrounded on three sides by I <br />residential developments. The adjacent street (Ashton Avenue) 13 a <br />reduced capacity street accesaed only through local residential streets. <br />7. These two locations abut residential developments and are provided <br />access only through residential neighborhoods. <br />8. This site abuts single family housing on the north, and multiple <br />family housing on the west plus the Regional Islands of Peace Park and <br />Trail (walk, bike) system. <br />9• Thess sites are adjacent to the elty'S municipal water well number 13. <br />The surface water drainage in this area flows directly into the <br />Mississippi River above the Minneapolis Water Works. <br />10. This site abuts a residential area and has limited access through <br />residential neighborhoods of Fridley and Columbia Heights. The watershed <br />from this area also enters the Mississippi River above the Minneapolis <br />Water Works. <br />All of the other property included within the Waste Management <br />Board's two preliminary sites in the City of Fridley are either in use or <br />zoned other than Heavy Industrial. <br />Request you include the above information in your site evaluation <br />analysis and incorporate the soil, geologic and aquafer data associated <br />with this region plus consider the potable water and regional park system <br />Impacts a hazardous waste processing facility would have in this <br />residential environment. <br />May I again suggest that the Waste Management Board reopen its area <br />Of investigation to include all Heavy Industrial zoned land within the <br />Metropolitan area without regard to existing availibility of sewer, water <br />and streets to determine those preliminary locations which should be <br />included in the hazardous waste processing facility consideration. <br />I would further suggest that primary consideration be given to <br />utilizing or expanding existing sources of hazardous waste processing <br />facilities to include incentives to sub -contract or initiate the services <br />to the metropolitan area or type of waste processed. <br />The City is extremely interested in the Board's developments and <br />analysis of Information involved with the hazardous waste processing <br />location task and would appreciate being kept informed on the data <br />distributed and decisions made on this issue. <br />If I can be of any further assistance in this study please feel free <br />to contact me at 571-3450 ext. 159. <br />Sincerely,errely <br />X r� <br />John 0.
