The proposal' is'to;
reconstruct the existing half -diamond interchange, which provides access to an i
from Boone Ave to the east on 1-94, to a folded diamond interchange, which also
provides movement to and from the west. The proposed design will provide ado
quate weaving distances on I-94 between the CSAH 18 and Boone Ave interchanges•
without significant disruption to parkland, residential areas or the Shingle
Creek, Bass Creek, and Eagle Creek flow -ways. In 1974 the Metropolitan Council
approved the concept of upgrading this interchange providing that the safety
and operating integrity of I-94 were maintained (Referral File No. 2058)., An
FHWA permit is required since this will modify a federal interstate highway;
however no federal funds are requested since the City of Brooklyn Park is com-
mitted to paying for the improvement. The final plans for the road must also
be submitted for Metropolitan Council approval under Mn. Statutes 473.167. In
revising this Environmental Assessment it would be desirable for the City to
include more quantitative data on run-off. MTC and MWCC have also expressed an
interest in being kept informed of future plans for this improvement.
