MEMO TO: Mayor and City Council
FROM: Director of Public Works/Community Development
DATE: February 17, 1983 )V
SUBJECT: VARIANCE REQUEST FOR SWIMMING POOL ON LOT 4, GALE
ADDITION ON ARDAN AVENUE•' SOUTH OF GROVELAND PARK
Mr. Ken Sjodin has approached the City to inquire about the possi-
bility of constructing a swimming pool in the 40 foot rear yard
easement created as part of the Gale Subdivision for control of
provisions required by Resolution No. 983. This item was briefly
discussed with the Planning Commission at their meeting on
February 16th and an informal, unofficial straw vote indicated the
Planning Commission would have difficulty in making the findings
of hardship as it relates to a variance request to construct a
pool as indicated on the plan.
Staff is bringing this issue to the City Council to again get an
informal, unofficial opinion so that the individual can be properly
advised to the probability of a variance approval at this location.
A sketch will be provided at the meeting to illustrate the variance
request.
JCJ/bc
