SELECTION OF PROPOSED AREAS <br />135. In a 2-day Board meeting on December 16 and 17, 1982 the Board reviewed <br />each preliminary area using fact sheets and maps supplied by staff. Board <br />staff reviewed each area verbally, discussing each factor for each area. <br />136. Representatives of the affected cities and residents were invited to address <br />the Board following the staff presentation for each area. <br />137. Fact sheets and notice of the Board meeting to select proposed areas <br />was mailed to each affected community prior to the meeting. <br />138. Following the selection of proposed areas, a press conference was held to <br />announce the proposed areas (December 17, 1982) and a press release was issued. <br />Notice of the decision was sent to affected communities on December 21, 1982. <br />139. All preliminary areas were discussed with the Board and public comment was <br />taken. Following that, all of the areas were briefly reviewed again and the <br />Board voted to tentatively accept or eliminate each area. The tentative deci- <br />sions were Later confirmed by formal resolution. <br />n <br />
