Proposed Miller Industrial Park, wetland data review.
October 19, 1983
Page 2
I have the following comments in regard to the water resources map as
prepared by the District for the City and of the !.Viler Industrial Park proposal
in general. The water resources map was prepared as a "P,eneral land use planning
tool", as indicated in the cover letter for the City of Hounds View Wetland Inventory
dated March, 1982. The wetland boundaries projected on the original D strict map may
be subject to site specific error and may require updating as detailed site specific
information becomes available. It is my understanding that this possibility was
understood by the city during the draft phase of ordinance development and provisions
for wetland boundary update were incorporated into the ordinance.
Raving been party to the development of the Barr Reports proposed wetland
boundaries, I concur with both consultants findings that there are areas of upland
habitat, and that there are areas in the transition -phase within the area mapped as
wetland 1-23 by the District.
Also, the consultant's reports indicate that the soil mapping units as
portrayed in the Ramsey County Soil Survey are in error. The soil survey indicates
that the major ;rapping unit on this site is Seelyeville muck. MT personal observations
also shed some doubt as to the accuracy of the soil survey on portions of this site.
In light of this, the District indicated to Mr. Miller that it would be possible
for the area to be resurveyed and amendments made to the Washington and Ramsey
County Soil Survey. This procedure would, however, require the permission of the
land owner. Todate the District has not received any indication from Mr. Miller
as to his interest in this. 0
cc.
