RAMSEY SOIL AND WATER CONSERVATION DISTRICT
PhdAa...... 1s.4 a.da,,
1827 Nntl• ;omi hul Rcu
MINNESOTA 1 '406
SOIL AND WATER CONSERVATION DISTRICTS
Date: October 20, 1953
To: Mr. John Johnson, Director
Mounds View Public Works/Community Development
From: Ramsey Soil and .'later Conservation District Plat Review Cc^elittee
Chairman Dr. Russell S. Adnms 6h RA.44.9d//6Z(1d,IkJJ/
Subject: Review of wetland data specific to the proposed Miller Industrial Park.
Mr. 'Thomas Petersen presented the above review to the Ramsey Soil and
.Pater Conservation District Bonrd of Supervisors for their consideration. We
accept his report.
Mr. Petersen makes a clear and concise report of the events that have
taken place with this report. We would reemphasize three things. Our original
wetland inventory specified that these data are general in nature and that site
specific data may still be in order. Thus, the Engineering Reports were in
keeping with our recommendations, and we concur with their findings.
Second, earlier data and data in the Engineering Reports suggest that
the organic Soil indeed may not be Seelyeville muck as shown in the Soil Conservation
Service Soil Survey. This would make a difference in our recommendation. The Soil
Conservation Service has volunteered to remap that area, but Mr. Miller did not
follow through on his part.
Finally, there is probably little question that upland habitat is becoming
established because of long-term drainage by judicial ditch No. 1. If development
occurs, action must be taken to make certain that this ditch remains open or this
area will he in potential danger of reverting to wet).erd condition.
If we can be of any further service, we would be pleased to do so.
cc, Mr. Jim Miller
AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER
V4..•.
