MEMO TO: Mounds View City Council
FROM: Bruce K. Anderson, Director
Parks, Recreation and Forestry
DATE: October 5, 1983
RE: Playground Equipment
Staff presented a memo to the Mounds View Parks and Recreation
Commission at their regularly scheduled September 22, 1983 Parks
and Recreation Commission meeting regarding the purchase of
playground equipment as per the 1983 budget for Lambert Park.
The Park Commission reviewed a number of pieces of equipment and
voted unanimously to recommend a Landscape Structures 29R unit at
a cost of $4,530.00. The budget in revenue sharing account
200-120-4703-511, playground equipment, has 54,400.00 budgeted
for playground equipment for Lambert Park.
The Landscape Structure unit was selected by the Park Commission
because of the play space usage, with the varied decks, the
tunnel support, tire swing area and spiral slide. This
particular piece of equipment meets all of the needs as heard
fr;,m the Lambert Park residents accept for the merry-go-round
which will be relocated from the Red Oak playground.
The Park Commission looked at to other pieces of equipment that
were basically wooden structures similar to this particular piece
but felt this would work best in the neighborhood and meet the
residents' needs.
RECOMMENDATION: Staff would recommend that the Landscape
Structures 29R unit be purchased at a cost of $4,530.00 plus
freight to be budgeted out of the revenue sharing account
200-120-4703.
BKA/sll
