-2-
r 1:10 - 2:00 p.m, ur.. Leon Snyder, Professor Emeritus,
from the university of Minnesota and
founder of the, university of
Minnesota Arboritum will be the guest
speaker. at Ardan Park to kick off the
City's leaf composting program. Dr.
Snyder is world renowned for his
expertise on North American plants
and plant diseases and is an
exceptionally high quality speaker.
Following Dr. Snyder's presentation,
there will be brief comments by the
Ramsey County Public Health
Department regarding the composting
program and how our particular site
will be operating in the Citv of
Mounds View.
2:00 - 2:30 p.m. There will then be a brief raffle to
distribute shovels and rakes that
have been donated by local businesses
as part of the leaf composting day
and distribution of free pumpkins to
all the young people involved in the
day's activities. Throughout the
day, the Park Commission will be
offering free orange helium balloons
to children that attend both Silver
View Park and Ardan Park.
The brief programs would then end by 2:30 p.m, with closing
comments by the Mayor, Councilmembers or Park Board Members.
...inr of
The leaf composting site will remain open fur tha r ai.. -- the day for residents to drop their leaves off. Staff feels that
this would be a very simp)N; vet effective, way to initiate both
the leaf composting and Silver View Park programs as well as gain
additional exposure before the residents, of the accomplishments
that both the Park Commission and Park Board have made during the
past two years.
RECOMMENDATION: To authorize $250.00 of the City's contingency
account to construct a Silver View Park sign on the north side of
Silver View Park adjacent to the parking lot.
BKA/sll
