In addition, I have <br />reviewed the construction specifications and the performance bond issued <br />in this project by American Druggist Insurance. <br />Also, I have discussed this matter with you and with Dan 0oxrud on the <br />telephone. It is my understanding that this is a project which the city <br />desires to have completed and that the winter season is the best time to <br />perform the job. <br />with the terms of the contract and the goals of the city in mind, I <br />recamiend at this time that you take the following steps: <br />1. Notify American Druggist Insurance Company through it's claim <br />representative, Midwest Surety Services, that the city intends to <br />take over and ccnplete the project 7 days from the date of the <br />letter; <br />2. At the end of the 7 day period begin the solicitation of bids for <br />the omupletion of the project. These bids should be sought on a <br />firm basis so that we receive a committed lop sum figure which <br />would only be subject to change in the event that the <br />specifications for the project were changed; <br />3. Obtain from the engineer on the project an estimate of his <br />additional billing for the ompletion of the project. <br />After these numbers have been obtained, the file should be reviewed to <br />determine what, if any, charges the city has already paid that are in <br />excess of what their costs would have been had the contract been <br />L <br />oampleted according to schedule.
