Mt. Donald Pau ley, City Administtatot
Pubtuaty 27, 111H4
Page 2
Out findings ate illustrated in the attached schematics for each
of the three alternatives. The figures show the traffic being
generated by the surrounding development only. Through traffic
has not been added to these trips. Alternative 1 (full median
cross -over) projects a substantial volume of southbound
l left
turns to the proposed Wooddale Drive access. Approximately
conflicts per day would be expected at the Wooddale Drive full
cross -over.
An increase of approximately 800 vehicles per day is expected on
County Road H-2 immediately west of Trunk Highway 10. A
majority of these vehicles turn to go either north or south on
Highway 10. A very minimal amount of traffic is anticipated to
use the local residential streets north of County Road H-2. At
the intersection of Trunk Highway 10 and County Road H, 1430
southbound left turns are projected from Highway 10 and 2150
westbound left turns from County Road H were anticipated.
Alternate 2 (partial ctoss-over) is illustrated by the second
schematic. The conflicts for this case reduce to 2335 at the
proposed Wooddale Drive ctoss-over (-40% when compared to
Alternative 1, full Ctoss-over). Increased traffic on County
Road H-2 more than doubles over Alternative 1 to 1900 vehicles
per day. The traffic on H-2 is unbalanced due to trips desiring
to proceed southbound on Trunk Highway 10. Little traffic is
anticipated to utilize local streets north of County Road H-2.
A 41% increase in southbound left turns from Highway 10 to
County Road H occurs due to eastbound trip desires from Wooddale
Dtive (now prohibited from crossing at Wooddale Drive) and
circulating traffic from the commercial development on the south
side of Highway 10 desiring to proceed northbound. Westbound
left turns from County Road H to Highway 10 increase 32% due to
the prohibition against this movement at Wooddale Drive.
Alternate 3 (no median openings) is illustrated by the third
schematic. Conflicts within the Wooddale Drive connection are
now reduced to zero since all movements are "right -in or
right -out" only. Traffic on County Road H-2 increases to 2500
vehicles per day, the highest of the three alternatives. This
is due to the addition of some vehicles which had been using the
southbound left turn at Wooddale Drive (now prohibited). The
left turning movements at County Road H also increases
dramatically.
