ADMINISTRATIVE NEWSLETTER <br />February 27, 1984 <br />Page Two <br />ANOKA COUNTY-DLAINI AIRPORT (coat.) <br />As a first step to commencing construction of the improvements called <br />for by the Master Plan, the Metropolitan Airports Commission is <br />required to perform an environmental assessment whereby they determine <br />if any significant environmental impacts result from the construction <br />and if negative impacts result, an environmental impact statement will <br />be required at the next step in the process. Staff will keep you <br />apprised of further developments as they occur. <br />MILLER INDUSTRIAL PARK FINAL PLAT <br />On Thursday, February 16th, staff met with Mr. Jim Miller and his <br />consultants to review what items will be necessary for them to submit <br />a final plat for Miller Industrial Park and any other applications such <br />as a wetlands alteration permit that might be required for them to <br />accomplish the Phase I development of the Industrial Park. It is anti- <br />cipated that the final plat will be received and submitted to the Council <br />within approximately 30 days. <br />TORNADO AWARENESS WEEK <br />Governor Perpich has proclaimed the week of March 25th through March 3Jst <br />as Tornado Awareness Week, with a statewide tornado drill being con <br />at 1:10 p.m. on Thursday, March 29th. In order to renew our awareni <br />the threat of tornadoes in Minnesota during the Spring months, staff nas <br />contacted the Fire Department and Police Department to ensure that drills <br />will be conducted in preparation for the tornado season, contacted the <br />School District to remind them of Tornado Awareness Week and receive <br />assurance that they will be conducting tornado drills in all of their <br />schools during the next few months, contacting the operators of the <br />elderly housing project to assist in the development of a tornado drill, <br />and preparing a reminder memorandum for City staff on what our duties <br />are should an emergency arise, as well as the meaning of the various <br />sirens sounded during severe weather alerts. Police Chief Ramacher and <br />I have discussed the need for a tabletop exercise which would simulate <br />a natural disaster in the City of Mounds View to determine the level <br />of preparedness presently in the City. It is anticipated that this <br />tabletop exercise will be conducted during the month of April, with <br />participation in the tabletop exercise including the Fire Department <br />and School District. Further updates on the development of the <br />tabletop exercise will be provided to you as we make progress towards <br />conducting such an exercise. <br />
