This phase of development consists of the preparation of an <br />area on the east side of the airport for construction of additional <br />storxga hangars. The storage hangar area would be connected with <br />Runways 17/35 and 8/26 by partial parallel taxiways. <br />The Commission is also planning, during 1984, to move ahead with an <br />cnvironmental assessment of the proposed Phase IB development as out- <br />lined in the Airport Master Plan. This developrent incorporates Trove <br />of Runway 17/35 to,the north of approximately 1,000 feet, as well as <br />an extension of RLUAuav 8/26 to the east by 800 feet, to a total length <br />of 41000 feet. It is anticipated that a consultant will be selected <br />to carry out this environmental assessment, and that a majority of the <br />work will be accomplished during 1984 and early 1985. We would like to <br />have this inprovement project underway during 1985 in order to move <br />P.unway 17/35 to the north as early as possible. It is doubtful whether <br />the additional building area identified in Phase IB will be needed as <br />part of this project. <br />The Capital Improvement Program incorporating these items will be con- <br />sidered by the Detrcpolitan Airports Oamdssion at its meeting on <br />February 21, 1984.
