4
MEMO TO: Mayor and City Counc(((il,,DQ
FROM: Clerk -Administrator
_`/ ,
DATE: April 11, 1984
SUBJECT: CODE -A -PHONE CAPABILITIES
Attached to this memorandum please find a memorandum from Parks,
Recreation and Forestry Director Anderson responding to inquiries
made by Councilmember Doty at a recent Council meeting regarding
the capabilities of our code -a -phone which answers after hours
incoming phone calls to the City offices on lines 3055 and 3771.
As indicated in his memorandum, Mr. Anderson suggests that lengthy
messages on the machine are not listened to by callers and the
major purpose for the machine is to advise callers as to the
emergency after hour phone numbers and special information which
cannot normally be provided during the normal working day, such as,
cancellation of evening ball games.
I would agree that a second code -a -phone would be advisable,
however, would suggest that a purchase be deferred until the item
can be included in the 1985 Budget.
DFP/pf
Attachment
