MEMO TO: Clerk -Administrator 5 City Council <br />FROM: Director of Public Works/Community Development o <br />DATE: April 10, 1984 <br />SUBJECT: Soil Borings for MSA Streets and Televising <br />Sewers and Associated Vaporizing of Roots <br />I received two quotes for soil borings. Brauns Engineering <br />Testing is for $2,840, Soil Exploration Company's quote is <br />for $2,350. I recommend awarding the work to Soil Exploration <br />Company. The budget for this item is $3,500. I received <br />a verbal quote and two written quotes for televising the <br />sanitary sewer. The verbal quote from Midwest was for 25C <br />per linear foot at 30,000 linear feet ($7,500). The first <br />written quote, Professional Services Group Inc. was for 25C <br />per linear foot at 30,000 linear feet ($7,500). The written <br />quote from Solidification Inc. was ($6,000). <br />RECOMMENDATION: I recommend awarding the work to Soil Exploration <br />Company and to Solidification Inc. Solidification Inc. will <br />also vaporize the sanitary sewer lines that have roots in them <br />for 50C per linear foot. I estimate that we will vaporize a <br />maximum of 5,000 linear feet. Therefore, the cost of vaporizing <br />will be approximately $2,500. I recommend vaporizing the roots <br />on an as needed basis. <br />SWT/mb <br />
