MEMO: Clerk -Administrator & City Council
FROM: Director of Public Works/Community Developm
DATE: May 16, 1984
SUBJECT: Municipal Water System Electrical Work
As you know the Municipal Water System Electrical Report by
Toltz, Duvall, King, Anderson & Associates Inc, dated March 19,
1984 recommended solving several problems. The City Council
approved the TKDA Study and my memorandum dated March 27, 1984.
I have received two written quotes for correcting the alluminum
wiring problem and TKDA is preparing plans and specifications to
correct the other problems as indicated in my memorandum.
The quotes are for removing alluminum wire from control panel to
pump motor and rcpla ing with copper wire. The contractor shall
also make motor connection, secure ground, bond service equipment
and install Hyplug on aluminum service conductors. The first
quote is from Bacon Electric Company in the amount of $3,745.
The second quote is from Collins Electrical Construction Company
in the amount of $5,105. The budget for this item is $4,500.
The City's purchasing policy indicates that a purchase in the
amount of $1,000-$10,000 must be awarded by the City Council.
RECOMMENDATION: I recommend awarding the work to Bacon Electric
Company.
SWT/mb
