MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL <br />PAGE TWO V <br />Article III of the Supplemental Appropriations Bill also adopted by <br />the 1984 Legislature provides for the licensing of video gambling <br />devices by the State Department of Public Safety. Chapter 114 of <br />the City's Municipal Code entitled, "Mechanical Amusement Devices <br />and Amusement Centers" allows "... devices, machines, or games which <br />may be played solely for amusement and not as a gambling device...." <br />thus, the City of Mounds View prohibits the operation of video <br />gambling devices within the City which is clearly within our legal <br />authority and should it be the desire of the City Council to continue <br />to do so no modification to Chapter 114 would be necessary. <br />RECOMMENDATION: Staff would recommend Council adopt an Ordinance <br />rescinding Chapter 107 of the Municipal C-)de effective February 28, <br />1985 and not revise Chapter 114 of the Municipal Code as it <br />currently prohibits video gambling devices within the City. <br />1 <br />I <br />
