ADMINISTRATIVE REQUIREMENTS OF REVENUE SHARING HANDICAPPED
DISCRIMINATION REGULATIONS
NOTICE OF REVENUE SHARING HANDICAPPED REGULATIONS
The City published notice in the New Brighton Bulletin on
January 13, 1964 of its policy against handicapped
discrimination. Donald Pauley, Clerk -Administrator was
designated as the "responsible employee" to coordinate
implementation of the handicapped discrimination
requirements. Notification was also posted in the City Hall
Foyer and a copy of the Notice was sent to WCCO radio with
the request that it be read as a Public Service Announcement.
The City will also take continuing steps to notify the public
of changes made to improve access by the handicapped to
programs and activities of the City. Such notification will
include notices and articles in the City Newsletter which is
published six times annually as well as notification in the
official newspaper of the City, the New Brighton Bulletin.
II. The rest room facilities have railings which
would assist handicapped persons in using those
facilities. The meeting rooms in the basement of tho
City Hall are accessible by an elevator. The Public
Works Director's analysis is that the City Hall Building
is in compliance with handicapped regulations.
Parks and Recreation Director Anderson has inspected the
school facilities that are used in the conduct of
recreation programs offered by the City, including
Pinewood and Sunnyside Elementary Schools and the
Edgewood Community Center. Each of these facilities
are totally accessible to handicapped persons.
Park and Recreation Director Anderson has also inspected
City Parks and finds that, in general, they are totally
accessible to handicapped persons as they are flat, with
no major steps, large hills or bermed areas which would
make them difficult to access by handicapped
individuals. The City currently has six shelter
buildings which are located at the following parks sites:
1. Groveland Park - this building has a ramp and would
be hand capped accessible.
2. Hillview Park - this shelter building has five steps
required for entry to the doorway. This is not
accessible to handicapped persons. It could be made
