II. SELF EVALUATION OF CITY PROGRAMS AND SF.RVICCS (continued)
D. Policies and Practices Concerning Employment
political affiLiations or beliefs."
Regulations regarding discrimination on the basis of
handicap and employment have been reviewed and we feel
that the City does not discriminate in its employment
practices, that is, in the soliciting of applications,
recruiting and advertising for the position,
interviewing, physical examinations, testing and other
screening procedures. The City will make reasonable
accomodations for known physical or mental limitations of
qualified handicapped applicants or employees when such
accomodation would not impose an undue hardship on the
operations of a C ty program or activity.
III. TRANSITION PLAN
It is proposed that the shelter buildings which have been
identified as inacces.ible to handicapped persons be made
accessible by ramping in the early Spring or Summer of
1986. The City's 198i budget does not presently provide for
such an expenditure. If sufficient funds should become
available during 19K these buildings will be ramped.
However, provisions a 11 be made to provide for funding of
these structural than )s in the City's 1986 budget and such
changes will be scheduled for completion no later than
August 31, 1986.
IV. GRIEVANCE PROCEDURE. TO RESOLVE. COMPLIANCE OF HANDICAPPED
DISCRIMINATION
I have proposed grievance procedure which specifies steps to
be followed and the resolution of a grievance alleging
violation of handicapped discrimination regulation has been
prepared and is attached. Staff feels that this grievance
procedure satisfies the requirements of the Office of
Revenue Sharing Regulations pertaining to discriination on
the basis of handicap.
(a
