MEMO TO: MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL
FROM: CLERK -ADMINISTRATOR
%.
DATE: NOVEMBER 15, 1984
SUBJECT: DECEMBER 24, 1984 COUNCIL MEETING
Looking at my calendar I discovered that the last Council
Meeting in December would normally occur on the evening of
December 24th, Christmas Eve. In reviewing Chapter 2 of the
Municipal Code, Section 2.01 reads, "If any such Monday is a
legal holiday, the meeting will be cancelled or held on
another date and time as established by Council action."
Although Christmas Eve is not a legal holiday I think that
it would essentially comply with the requirements of this
section and the options before the City Council are to
cancel this meeting or schedule it for another date which
would be either Decembery 26th or 27th.
RECOMMENDATION: Staff would recommend Council schedule a
short meeting to occur at 7:30 p.m. on the evening of
December 26th. Also, in order to swear in the new Council -
members as soon after the first of the year as possible
t Staff would also request that the Council schedule a special
" meeting to occur at 7:30 p.m. on the evening of January 2nd,
1985.
DFP/mjs
