TO:
IFROM:
DATE :
RE:
Mayor & Council
Finance Director -Treasurer Brager
November 29, 1984
PARK & RECREATION CASH DRAWER SHORTAGE
44iu. !L
During the week of October 15, 1984, $55.00 was missing from the
cash drawer of the Park & Recreation Department. The Police Depart-
ment was advised immediately. To date, staff of the Police, Park &
Recreation and Finance Departments have been unable to determine
how this shortage may have occurred.
As a consequence of this shortage, past procedures regarding the
cash drawer have been formalized and put in writing and new
procedures have been added. A copy of those procedures are attached
for your consideration. The purchase of a cash register for the Park
& Recreation Department which is in the 1985 Budget, will enable the
Department to have better control of their cash than presently exists
with their cash drawer. Hopefully, formalizing past procedures and
adding some new ones combined with the purchase of a cash register
will minimize the possibility of any future occurrence of this nature.
DB/ds
Attachments
