ONNNESOr4
OF Ta
September 26, 1984
ATTACHMENT #4
PACE 1 OF 2
Minnesota Department of Transportation
Transportation Building, St. Paul, MN 55155
TO Municipal Engineers
FROM Office of State Aid
SUBJECT: Procedure for System Revisions
ti
RECEI94
EV
QiY OF
MOUNDS va
Phone 612-ZQ6._9912—
During the past few months a number of inquiries have been made as to procedures
to follow when requesting an addition or revision to the Municipal State Aid
Street System. We have, therefore, outlined the procedure to follow. We suggest,
however, that before any requests for additional M.S.A.S. routes or system revi-
sions are considered, you check to make sure that the additional mileage requested
when added to your present total M.S.A.S. mileage will not exceed the total mileage
eligible for designation as shown on line 14 of your Annual Certification of
Mileage (Mn/DOT TP 29172-01)(10-79).
After determining there is enough mileage available to cover the proposed system
revision, and you feel the proposed system revision meets the criteria for State
Aid designation as defined in the Rule for State Aid Operations, the procedures
as shown in the State Aid Manual Fig. AS-892.008 and as listed below be followed.
1. Prepare a written explanation of the proposed system revision and a
sketch of the streets involved.
2. The District State Aid Engineer will review the proposals and transmit
them to the Office of State Aid along with his comments.
3. The Office of State Aid will check the mileage available for designa-
tion, analyze the requested revisions and advise the District State Aid
Engineer of approval or rejection.
4. The District State Aid Engineer will notify the municipal engineer of
the recommendation for approval or rejection.
5. If recommended for approval, the municipal engineer will request action
by the governing body of the municipality to pass the necessary resolu-
tions required.
6. The governing body will pass the required resolutions and transmit them
to the municipal engineer.
An fquul OPPMUMY tniPlgver
