TO: Mayor d Council FROM: Finance Director -Treasurer Brager DATE: February 13, 1985 RE: 1985 PROPERTY TAX LEVIES The overall property tax levy for taxes payable in 1985 for Mounds View residents is 99.165 mills. This is an increase of 4.094 mills over the 1984 levy of 95.071 mills. On a percentage basis it is an increase of 4.31%. The levy is detailed below. Schools 50.089 County 29.273 City 13.933 Miscellaneous 5.870 Total Levy 99.165 Ramsey County's 1985 levy of 29.273 mills is an increase of 2.130 mills over its 1984 levy of 27.143 mills. The County's mill rate increased 7.85% in 1985. The Schools levy consists of the levies of Mounds View District 621 and Special Intermediate (Vocational) School District 916. The over- all school levy increased 4.30% over 1984. The Mounds View Schools levy increased 4.06%. The 1985 levy of 48.616 mills is an increase of 1.897 mills over its 1984 levy of 46.719 mills. The City's property tax levy increase of 3.00% is a smaller increase than that of the County (7.85%) or the Mounds View School District (4.308). Our 1985 levy of 13.933 mills is an increase of 0.406 mills over our 1984 levy of 13.527 mills. Of each tax dollar paid by Mounds View residents approximately 14 cents is received by the City. The remainder i, paid to other taxing juris- dictions. Each taxing jurisdiction receives the following share of the tax dollar: Schools $0.5051 County 0.2952 City of Mounds View 0.1405 Miscellaneous 0.0592 The 1985 Miscellaneous levy for Mounds View is 5.870 mills; a decrease of 0.505 mills from the 1984 levy of 6.375 mills. This decrease is mainly due to the reduction of the MTC levy by 0.767 mills. The Miscellaneous levy is detailed in the attached table.
