MAYOR AND COUNCIL
MARCH 5, 1985
PAGE TWO
3. Once these sessions have been conducted and
hopefully attended by all members of the City
Council, a goal setting session would be scheduled
where the City Council would undertake a program
similar to that which we did in 1984 to set two year
goals for the City. I am suggesting a two year
period for goal setting due to the fact that
after the election of the new City Councilmember
only nine months will be left in 1985 and we will
soon be into the budget and construction seasons
allowing a minimal amount of time to address any of
these goals. Also, due to the lack of success in
our actually addressing the goals set in 1984, it is
my hope that a two year program would provide us
with greater time and opportunity to undertake the
goals determined by the City Council.
I would like to take the opportunity to discuss this
proposal with you and should you agree to it, begin the
process of scheduling these work sessions and having
Department Heads prepare themselves for their formal
presentations. Should it be your desire to undertake the
goal setting effort in a different manner, preparation for
doing so will still be necessary.
DFP/mjs
0
