I\ <br />TO: Mayor & City Council <br />FROM: Finance Director -Treasurer Brager <br />DATE: May 16, 1985 <br />RE: JANITORIAL SERVICE CONTRACT <br />Staff recently received proposals for janitorial service on a <br />one year contract basis. The following proposals were received: <br />Triangle Maintenance <br />$775 <br />per <br />month <br />Professional Window and Housecleaning <br />$722 <br />per <br />month <br />Jim's Building Maintenance <br />$400 <br />per <br />month <br />With the exception of Jim's Building Maintenance all of the other <br />bids are in excess of the $500 per month that was budgeted for <br />the janitorial services contract in the 1985 Budget. Jim's <br />Building Maintenance had the previous janitorial services contract. <br />The service of the firm has been less than acceptable. Staff has <br />received many complaints about the quality of their service from <br />department heads and clerical staff. This dissatisfaction with <br />their service has been communicated to the firm and the quality of <br />service has not improved appreciably. Therefore, staff recommends <br />that all of the above proposals be rejected. <br />Staff contacted Contract Cleaning Specialists and Service Master <br />and requested a proposal for janitorial services from them. Service <br />Master did not submit a proposal. A proposal was received from <br />Contract Cleaning Specialists in the amount of $490 per month. <br />Staff has checked several of the references for Contract Cleaning <br />Specialists and all references contacted indicated the satisfaction <br />w'.th the firm's services. Staff recommends awarding the janitorial <br />services contract to Contract Cleaning Specialists for a period of <br />one year at a rate of $490 per month. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Award the janitorial services contract to Contract Cleaning <br />Specialists for a period of one year at a rate of $490 per month. <br />DB/ds <br />
