MEMO TO: CLERK -ADMINISTRATOR AND CITY COUNCIL
FROM: DIRECTOR. OF PUBLIC WORKS/COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT JI
DATE: MAY 16, 1985
SUBJECT: REPAIR OF BROKEN/SEPARATED SANITARY SEWERS
FOUND DURING THE 1985 TELEVISING
The 1985 Sanitary Sewer Televising Program located ten
areas where the sanitary sewer should be excavated. The
work in these ten locations will involve replacing sections
of pipe varying in length from one foot to five feet. If
this work is not done, the sand around the pipe will fill in
and cause us more problems in the future.
The majority of the repairs are under streets that are
proposed to be patched, seal -coated or overlayed with
bituminous per the 1985 Street Maintenance Program. We have
awarded the work on the Street Maintenance Program to H 6 S
Asphalt Company. Therefore, completing the repair of the
sanitary sewer as soon as possible is imperative.
Normally, this work is done on a time and materials basis.
There is a contractor in the City installing storm sewers
for the 1985 MSA Project. Attached is a copy of his unit
prices for conducting this work.
I will provide another quote for you to review on Monday
night. I will also bring along the pictures of the problem
areas for you to review and verify that these areas need to
be repaired.
I will recommend which contractor to hire on Monday night.
I expect the cost of this repair to be between $5,000 and
$9,000. There is $15,000 budgeted for this repair work in
1985 on line item 730-121-4190.
SWT/mjs
