If you run for election and win, do you have to give up your membership/leadership role in any
non-profit.
a. No. Many elected officials come from non-profit activity, they are involved in the
community and running for office is an extension of that. More than half of the Mounds
View Mayors over the past two decades were also members of the Mounds View Lions.
Current Festival President Kathryn Smith recently was elected by residents and her
campaign highlighted that commitment to the community.
2. Can a non-profit donate to the City?
a. Yes,the Lions, the Festival in the Park, SBM Fire, and the NB/MV Rotary have all made
recent contributions specific to the Tribute Park, the MV Police Foundation is currently
working on donating.
