�s <br />6.26 <br />6.26 SICK LEAV4. <br />Subdivision 1. Eligibility. Sick leave with pay shall be <br />granted to all probationary and regular full-time employees at <br />the rate of one work day for each calendar month of full time <br />service or major fraction thereof, except that sick leave granted <br />probationary employees shall not be available for use until <br />satisfactory completion of the initial probationary period. <br />Promotl^nal probationary employees may make use of sick ieavr; <br />however, if the sick leave excaeoa a total of five working days, <br />the probationary period shall automatically be extended a like <br />period of time. Sick leave will accrue to regular part-time <br />employees on a prorate basis. <br />Subdivision 2. Accrual and Use. Sick leave may be <br />accumulated to a maximum of 120 days. Sick leave may be granted <br />oniy for absence from duty because of personal illness or <br />disability, legal quarantine, or death or serious illness in the <br />immediate family. The immediate family is defined as the <br />following kin of either the employee or the employee's spouse: <br />children, mother, Lather, sister, brother or grandparents. <br />Subdivision 3. Proof Required. In order to be eligible <br />for sick leave with Fay, an employee must: <br />(1) Report promptly to his Department Head the reason for <br />his absence. <br />(2) Keep his Department Head informed on a weekly basis <br />Of his condition., if the absence is more than three days <br />duration. <br />(3) Submlt a medical certificate for any absence <br />exceeding three days if required by the Clerk -Administrator. <br />(4) Penalty. Claiming sick leave when physically fit, <br />except as permitted in this section may he c3uce for disciplinary <br />a,:tion, including transter, suspension, demotion or dismissal. <br />(5) An employee who meets the other requirements of this <br />section and who receives workers' compensation payments shall be <br />jranted accrued sick leave pay in the amount of tae difference <br />between his workers' compansatlor payments and his salary. <br />(6) Severance pay. Severance pay shall be granted in tie <br />amount of 5o percent of unused sick leave to employees who have <br />completed ten years of service. Upon death ut the employee, the <br />teneficiary of the employee shall be paid the benefit. <br />(7) "Bank" sick leave. Employees who have accw-ulatcd <br />the maximum 12U days sick leave shall be permitted to accrue <br />additional "bank' sick leave at the rate of one day per month. <br />"Bank" sick leave shall not be used in computing severance pay. <br />
