TO: Mayor, City Council and Clerk -Administrator
FROM: Police Chief
DATE: February 28, 1985
RE: PURCHASE OF NEW POLICE VEHICLE
Enclosed is a copy of bids received by the City of St. Paul for the
purchase of new Police vehicles. The bids were opened on 12-19-84 and
prices quoted are available to other political entities besides the
City of St. Paul.
It's the opinion of the car dealers I contacted, that the price quoted
in the St. Paul bid could not be improved on by Mounds View conducting
our own bid process.
Listed below is the three lowest Ford bids, lowest Chevrolet bid and
lowest Dodge bid. Included in the bids are selected options:
MIDWAY FORD
$11,6i8.00
BROOKOALE FORD
11,456932
MINAR FORD
11,433.81
POLAR CHEVROLET
11,450.00
WHITE BEAR DODGE
11,330.00
In the past two years, the Police Department exclusively purchased Ford
(Crown Victorias). They have performed very satisfactorly and maintenance
costs have been low. Although the Dodge bid is lower, we would spend
more money in the conversion process.
The 1985 budgeted amount for the purchase of a new Police vehicle is
$12,000.00.
RECOMMENDATION:
REQUEST CITY COUNCIL TO AUTHORIZE THE PURCHASE OF ONE 1985 FORD (Crown Victoria)
FROM MINAR FORD III THE AMOUNT OF $11,433.81.
