Bruce K. Anderson., Parks, Recreatieh
Forestry Director (
DATE: March 17, 1980
RE: Silver View Park Acquisition and Development
In response to the park related questions that have been raised inregards to the
preliminary development proposal for the parcel bounded by Highway 10, Silver
Lake Road, Long Lake Road, County Rd. I and County Road H2 I have prepared the
following background information:
1. The City of hounds View currently holds fee simple title to 16.9 acres
of park land at the intersection of County Road H-2 and Silver Lake
Road.
2. The original grant for additional acquisition of park land for Silver
View Park was submitted by the City of Mounds View in August of 1976.
Mr. Douglas Bryant was the Director of the Parks and Recreation Depart-
ment at that time and the grant was originally approved at $105,000.
for funding in 1977_ This grant application was for the acquisition of
approximately 19 acres of land directly north of the City's existing
park land.
3. The original grant was not processed properly in 1977 which made for
a two year delay in receiving the final acquisition's approval which
was finally granted to the City on June 25, 1979.
4. The acquisition grant has been finalized and approved in the amount
of $136,800.00 which is broken down as follows:
$34,200.00 - City of Mounds View share, $34,200.00 - State Funds and
$68,400.00 - Federal share, The City share has been set aside through
1978 revenue sharing funds.
5. Mr. Doug Bryant resigned his position with the City in August, 1977 and
was then appointed as the Director of Parks and Recreation in November,
1977.
6. In July, 1978 I submitted a grant application for the Phase I development
of Silver View Park based on the acquisition of land north of the City's
existing land.
