Transportation Goals and Policies <br />4 - <br />Policy: Ensure that pedestrian street crossings <br />on heavily traveled streets are clearly marked and <br />lighted. <br />Policy: When economically feasible, provide facil- <br />ities for pedestrians and bicyclists in conjunction <br />with street improvements projects. <br />Policy: Where possible, provide bicyclists a right- <br />of-way separated from both pedestrian and •sehicular <br />traffic. <br />Policy: Designate the appropriate mode of travel <br />in each segment of the system (sidewalk-trail-street) <br />by adequate signage. <br />Policy: The comnunity's pedestrian and bicycle <br />system shall be related to those being provided by <br />adjoining cormnunities and throuqhout the metropolitan <br />area. <br />Goal 7: Coosdinate all City transportation planning with County, <br />Metropalitan Council, MBtropolitan Transit Coaonission, State, Pederal, <br />and other local transportation plans. <br />Policy: MainLain and improve the existing line of <br />communication with county and state highway officisls <br />in order to ensure that planned improvements are <br />consistent with the goals and objectives of the <br />coawunity. <br />Polic : The City will contribute its reeourcea to <br />the reaolution of inetropolitan transportation problems. <br />Polic : Coordinate pathway aystem with adjaoent <br />neighbor±nq communities. <br />Goal 8: Each street in the City will be classified and developed <br />accordinq to the adopted metropolitan clasaiEications and atandarda.
