RESUME <br />DEREK YOUNG. Born in England 1933- Came to U.S. in 1961. Became <br />American citizen 1967. Married, two children. Live in Minneapolis. <br />Educated at Iowa State University 1964-8. Graduated with a BachAlor <br />of Science in Landscape Architecture spring 1968. Came to Twin <br />Cities June 1968. Worked as an L.A. for Midwest Planning and <br />Research; Charles Wood Associates; Minnesota Highway Department; <br />Amenity One, Inc. and have been self employed in private practice <br />for the last three years. <br />EXPERIENCE: Some Major Projects <br />* CROFT MINE HISTORY PARK, Crosby, Mn. Restoration and interpre- <br />tation of an underground mining operation. Worked through <br />Amenity One, Inc. as project site planner along with Clarence <br />Smith, city planner, and Russell Mrodzek, graphic designer. <br />References: George Iwan, 296-4556, or Bruce Tabor. <br />* RA4SEY PARK, Redwood Falls, Mn. Recreation facilities including <br />toilet building and drainfield; picnic shelter; parking lot; <br />surfaced walkway; suspension footbridge; waterfalls overlook <br />trails; steps. Project site planner with Amenity One, Inc. <br />Reference: David Bangasser, 473-0234, (then city manager at <br />Redwood Falls). <br />* MEMORIAL PARK, Richfield, Mn. Playground facility included <br />earth mounding; sand pit; play structure, custom designed; rope <br />bridge; watez slide. With Amenity One, Inc. as project land- <br />scape architect. Reference: Harvey Feldman, 348-2121, (then <br />Recreation Director at Richfield). <br />* MAPLE GROVE, Mn. Master plan and report for the whole community <br />included linear parks, community park, sport complexes and neigh- <br />borhood parks. With Amenity One, Inc. Reference: Tom Montgomery, <br />822-2126, (then Parks Director at Maple Grove). <br />* HASTINGS, MN OLD MILL PARK. Recreation facility included a mas- <br />ter plan; site details such as overlook shelter; limestone walk- <br />way; protective `encing; bikeway; earth shaping; planting; picnic <br />site; signs; lighting; irrigation system. With Amenity One, Inc. <br />as project landscape architect. <br />* HOUSING. Several projects on Multiple Housing; Elderly Housing; <br />playgrounds; as landscape architect with several architects and <br />developers. References: any principal at Miller, Hanson, Wester - <br />beck, Bell, Architects, Inc., 338-7700. <br />* SHAKOPEE, CITY PARK. Master plan for 40 acres of ballfields plus <br />32 acres of picnic, parking, sledding hill, tennis courts, recrea- <br />tion building.
